Step 1
Get set up
You’ll use three portals: Volunteer Hub to register, TaxSlayer to practice, and Link & Learn to take your test.

Step 2
Learn with us
Join our training, either in-person or online, to strengthen your skills, boost confidence, and prepare for volunteering.

Step 3
Get certified
Get IRS certified with our full support. Once you’re certified, you’re ready to start making a difference in someone’s life.
Self-Paced Certification Training
All volunteers need to complete the Volunteer Standards of Conduct (VSC), Interview & Quality Review (IIQR), with the option to complete the Basic or Advanced Tax Certification and Quality Review Training. Volunteers must score 80%+ on required tests.
Intake Case Review Training Self-Paced
Tax Certification Training Self-Paced – Returning volunteers are encouraged to complete this training.
Use Pub 6744 for test questions and answer sheet.
VITA Test Alerts: Basic Test, Scenario 7: Pg. 45 – Form 1099-DIV, withholding should be $260 and Question #14 – question should read “Craig and Sarah’s standard deduction amount is $30,000.”
